Paintings

Image-making is useful when explanations fail, often expressing irrational intellegences, bringing us layered, synthesized, and surprising information. I work with automatism, in word play and poems, gestural and figurative painting, allowing the absurd and intuitive image to be born, and to tell me something that makes more sense than I ever could.

In my great concern for Earth I wonder how we can see ourselves as a species more clearly, how we can express our experience of the world. The landscape moves through me. Interrelationships within ecosystems, both wild and human made, are navigated in personal and cultural memory.
